SSNS Seminar – Dr Monica Kristensen: Polar Explorer and Crime Writer
The SSNS Seminar Series continues on 7 December with a talk by polar explorer and crime writer, Dr Monica Kristensen.
Abstract: ‘Nordic Noir: Landscape, personality affliction, or an ancient Nordic literary style?’
The style classified as “Nordic Noir” can be defined as crime fiction literature describing a dark landscape, a dystopic society and the hopelessly, rough personality of the main character, the detective. But perhaps equally important: the motives behind the writing of the “Nordic noir” crime fiction is a twofold motive of the author; the descriptions of Nordic gloom and the dystopic view of the hidden social order.
This is a free, ticketed event; please register below.
